At the age of 26, postmodern American choreographer Simone Forti made history with a unique series of dances mounted and performed at the New York studio loft of future Beatle wife Yoko Ono. The dances in question created circumstances for the dancers' actions, which resolutely opposed all stylization; each piece occurred in a different section of the loft, and the audience had to move from location to location to view them. Over forty years later, in 2004, Los Angeles's Museum of Contemporary Art asked Forti to recreate the original dances at the Geffen Contemporary locale, as part of the exhibit 'A Minimalist Future Art as Object 1958 1986.' This program offers a filmed record of that evening, with such pieces as Roller Boxes, Slant Board, La Monte's 2 Sounds and Huddle. At the end of the performances, Forti turns up for a Q&A session.
