What is this site all about?
AllMovie is a comprehensive and in-depth resource for finding out more about the movies, actors and filmmakers you love. We offer different ways for our users to explore and discover all kinds of cool info about movies including keeping up-to-date on new release information, browsing filmographies, rating your favorite films and reading what our editors have to say.
What is the value of registering with AllMovie? Why would I create a login and password?
By creating an account with us, youíll have the opportunity to "Favorite" your favorite movies and filmmakers, as well as being able to rate movies (1 star for something you hated, 5 stars for something you loved).
I've rated some movies and favorited some people. In the words of Edwin Starr: what is it good for?
Rating movies and marking filmmakers and actors as your "Favorites" all factor into giving you personalized recommendations for more movies you may be interested in. There are so many films out there, it can be difficult to wade through it all to find the stuff worth checking out. By letting us know some of your likes and dislikes, we can start offering suggestions in the Recommendations For You section.
I'd like to see what I've rated or marked as a favorite, where can I do that?
As of now, you'll need to click on your name in the upper right corner (if you're logged in), and then look at the information on those pages.
Why are there ads on the site?
AllMovie is a free site that relies on ad revenue in order to help keep the lights on. We're trying to keep the ads relevant to movie fans so that they don't seem too intrusive.
What is the difference between Movies and Releases?
Movies should be thought of as the "Work" and Releases should be thought of as the specific "Products" that are sold (like DVDs and Blu-Ray Discs). So something like the filmed work "Citizen Kane" that came out in theaters in 1941 would be a "Movie" and the "80th Anniversary Boxed Set" DVD version that came out and was available on store shelves would be a "Release".
What about TV information?
We have some TV information focused around DVD releases of TV series and we also have a cool sister site called Sidereel that allows you to find and watch TV shows as well as getting more info on when shows are airing.
You know what would be cool on the site? This thing I just thought of. How can I submit a feature request for something I'd like to see on AllMovie?
I noticed something is missing. How can I submit a correction?
Errors to written content like reviews and biographies, tagged metadata like Genres, Styles, Moods, Themes and Similar Movies, as well as information about credits, movie posters and trailers are on the end of our data provider, Rovi. You may submit artist- and movie-related corrections to Rovi editors using Submit Corrections links available in the sidebar on artist and movie pages, and corrections related to other types of data via our feedback form.
Rovi prides themselves on accuracy, so please include your information source in your submission. Please do not contact AllMovie about the status of data corrections; we don't control which data is corrected or how long it takes to apply corrections, and we can't move up your correction in priority or within a specific time frame. Rovi appreciates the time you take to send this information to them, but due to the immense volume of correspondence they receive, they're unable to directly respond to most of your submissions.
Can I submit a DVD or Movie information to you so it will show up on the site?
Yes please. See the details on our Product Submissions page.
