Synopsis by Maggie Sadler
In 1960s New York City, 18-year-old Barbara Rubin challenged artistic traditions and caused a significant stir amongst the city's underground film community with her experimental film, Christmas on Earth. She also contested other male-dominated spheres including Orthodox Judaism before her unusual and premature death. Using intimate letters curated by her old friend Jonas Mekas, documentarian Chuck Smith sheds new light on the rebellious artist and solidifies her standing in film history.
