Synopsis by Maggie Sadler
Documentary filmmaker Jean-Paul Mertinez takes a deep dive into the life and legacy of Tenzin Gyatso, the fourteenth Dalai Lama and spiritual leader of the Gelug school of Tibetan Buddhism. Facing pressure and religious persecution from the Chinese government in the 1950s, a young Dalai Lama was forced to flee Tibet in 1959 and seek asylum in India following his exile. Intimate interviews with the Dalai Lama shed new light on his spiritual journey, as well as his hopes for a peaceful future.
