Synopsis by Jinko Labitag

In 2014, the art exhibition @Large: Ai Weiwei on Alcatraz was organized for Ai Weiwei, a Chinese activist and contemporary artist who was detained due to his views on democracy and human rights that directly contrast with the Chinese government’s. Ai Weiwei: Yours Truly tells of the story of this exhibition which inspired thousands of its visitors to connect with prisoners of conscience all around the globe. It also shows how unjust detention affects those who are jailed, as well as their families who are waiting for them to come back. Directed by Cheryl Haines and Gina Leibrecht.
