Synopsis by Nathan Southern
The nonfiction work Wiener Takes All: A Dogumentary lays out on a cinematic tableaux a multifaceted look at the subculture of Dachshund (or "wiener dog") racing. The filmmakers begin with a long tour of formalized Dachshund races, spanning the 2003 Noodles-Pretzel incident through the 2005 Wiener nationals, and featuring interviews with Dachshund owners about what gives them a passion for this most unusual sport. The program then moves into more serious explorations of such graver issues as animal abuse, exploitation and drugging.
