Synopsis by Phil Griffin
Syrian director Talal Derki returns to his home country to document the daily life of an Islamic extremist family, who he lives with over a period of two years. The family includes father Abu Osama, one of the founders of the Syrian arm of Al-Qaeda, his 13-year-old Osama and Osama's younger brother Ayman. The boys are being raised to be Jihadi soldiers by their father, who fiercely believes in establishing Islamic rule no matter the means. Derki captures the boy's radicalization and how Abu Osama can be a loving father and devoted follower of Al-Qaeda.
