Set in India in the 1940s, this biographical film chronicles four turbulent years in the life of writer Saadat Hasan Manto (Nawazuddin Siddiqui). Crossing from Bombay to Lahore, the narrative recounts Manto’s difficulties in facing the lagging of his career in amongst the displacing realities of the partition of India. Manto’s heavy use of alcohol paves the way for his own short stories seemingly Written and directed by Nandita Das.
