Synopsis by Augustine Chay
Director Jethro Waters’ documentary explores the life, artistry, and aesthetic philosophy of veteran American photojournalist Burk Uzzle. It juxtaposes his current project (capturing portraits of Eastern North Carolina’s African American community) against the long arc of his illustrious career, which began at LIFE Magazine at 23 and intersected with several defining moments of 1960s America: the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr., the civil rights movement, and Woodstock.
