Despite living on opposite ends of the country, Debbie (Reese Witherspoon) and Peter (Ashton Kutcher) maintain their long-standing friendship through regular phone calls. When Debbie reveals she has the opportunity to achieve a lifelong dream, Peter offers to look after Debbie's young son, Jack (Wesley Kimmel). Yet, as Debbie and Peter get a glimpse of how the other lives, they soon realize just how deep their bond goes. Aline Brosh McKenna writes and directs the romantic comedy.
