The Seaview is assigned a mission to the Middle East, carrying a precious cargo -- a 3000-year-old sarcophagus, part of a national treasure being returned in hope of stabilizing a friendly nation. But Captain Crane (David Hedison) seems to be adversely affected by the presence of the mummy, suffering fainting spells that get him relieved of his command by Admiral Nelson (Richard Basehart). Soon the ship is being sabotaged, and it seems there is more life left in the ancient cargo than anyone could reasonably have expected. And somehow tied to the mummy's wanderings are Crane's mysterious spells and lapses.
