Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Leaving Amsterdam behind, Rick Steves launches the second episode of Travels in Europe with a railway excursion along Germany's two most celebrated river valleys. The viewer is whisked past the Mosel to Trier, the oldest town in Germany, with brief stopovers in such picturesque communities as Bullay and Zell. Rick goes through castle tunnels, ramparts, feudal remnants, and WWII memories, enjoying the hospitality of a typical German Zimmer (or B and B) along the way. The host also offers helpful (and financially prudent) advice concerning train travel in Europe.
