Review by Hans J. Wollstein

A slow moving, badly directed Poverty Row production, Trapped in Tia Juana is of interest mainly for reuniting the stars of MGM's lavish Trader Horn (1930), Duncan Renaldo and Edwina Booth. Both were experiencing difficulties sustaining their erstwhile reputation, Renaldo mainly due to problems with the Immigration and Naturalization Services (he served a prison term for illegally entering the United States) and Booth reportedly because of her imperious attitude. Both reveal more thespian ability than in their previous encounter, but are soundly defeated by producer Fanchon Royer's complete lack of budget and a poorly recorded soundtrack.
