Synopsis by Mark Deming

A woman confronts the dreams and desires she's kept hidden for years in this independent drama from filmmaker Heather Tobin. Jessica (Hannah Hogan) is a woman in her mid-twenties married to Trevor (Shaughnessy Redden), who has been a close friend since high school. Trevor loves Jessica, but he has a habit of micro-managing their relationship, and he's eager to have children while Jessica is wary of becoming a mother. Jessica meets Casey (Tracy Rae), a woman who does landscaping in the neighborhood, and they strike up a friendship. Casey is an out of the closet lesbian who doesn't put much stock in long term relationships, and it isn't long before she feels a strong attraction to Jessica. Jessica has long had feelings for other women but has never acted on them, having been raised to believe they were sinful, but with Casey she becomes romantically and sexually involved with another woman for the first time. While Jessica has fallen for Casey, Casey isn't sure she's ready for the sort of emotional commitment Jessica needs, and Trevor soon suspects that his wife has a secret she's not sharing with him. To Each Her Own was an official selection at the 2009 San Francisco International LGBT Film Festival.
