Synopsis by Hans J. Wollstein
Usually laboring in the netherworld of poverty row, actor-director J.P. McGowan was assigned solid production values and a serialized mystery novel by Max Brand this time around, all courtesy of Universal. The result, Tiger True, told the melodramatic story of a former big game hunter, Jack Lodge (Frank Mayo), who hires himself out as a bouncer in a rough saloon owned by Mary Dover (Fritzi Brunette). Mary is terrorized by an intruder, "The Baboon" (Walter Long), who seemingly desires the pretty girl. She seeks help from "Old Whitey," but The Baboon's threatening visits continue, until, that is, Lodge discovers that The Baboon and Old Whitey are not only one and the same but also Mary's long-lost half-brother.
