A rare misfire from Tim McCoy, this Western did not enjoy a wide release until 1936, and it is easy to see why. Tim McCoy was not the rodeo type and is rather ludicrous in the clinches with young Marion Shilling. A large cast did what they could, but The Westerner remained a dud that was not reviewed by the trade-paper Variety until December of 1936, two years after its initial release.
