Synopsis by Perry Seibert
Shawn Swords documentary The Wages of Spin examines the music scene in Philadelphia from 1952-1963. During this period, a local television station started the program American Bandstand, which would become a national hit-making program and launch the career of Dick Clark. The directors examine the widespread practice of paying DJs and radio executives in order to get particular songs on the air.
