Synopsis by Jason Buchanan
Director Dominik Graf weaves fantasy and reality with this adaptation of the popular novel by author Kai Meyer. The year is 1818, and the setting is Münsterland. A nun named Anna Katharina von Emmerich bears the mark of stigmata, and numerous pilgrims have come flocking to her bedside. Clemens von Brentano is an artist who makes the pilgrimage to Anna's sickbed in order to record her visions and beliefs for posterity. As a devout Catholic, the former rake believes that he now has complete control over his fate. But fate has other things in store for Anna and Clemens.
