Directed by Agnieszka Smoczynska, this biopic is based on the nonfiction book by Marjorie Wallace. The true-to-life story tells the tale of Caribbean immigrant twins June (Letitia Wright) and Jennifer Gibbons (Tamara Lawrance) and their life during the 1970s and 1980s. As the only Black children in their Welsh school, the girls were often ostracized. Eventually, they refused to communicate with others as they developed their own way of talking with each other. To cope with the world, they create elaborate stories and fantasy worlds where they choose to live instead of the real one.
