Review by Hans J. Wollstein

There is a great deal of horseplay on display in this low-budget Western that, alas, also features quite a bit of bad acting. The rodeo scenes are well photographed and mildly entertaining, but whenever someone gets off his horse to engage in a bit of dialogue, inertia sets in. Tom Keene makes an appealing hero but the supporting players are all of the "aw shucks" school of acting. Except, perhaps, one Richard Carlyle, as Keene's Bible-quoting sidekick, who mugs shamelessly while spouting homilies like "Stones are heavy and sand is weighty, but a fool's wrath is heavier than both." Director Fred Allen's assistant was David Lewis, the future producer of such fine films as King's Row (1942) and Arch of Triumph (1948).
