Synopsis by Hal Erickson
In honor of New Year's Eve, Red Skelton reprises his characterization of perpetual souse Willie Lump Lump. Guest star Mercedes McCambridge costars as Willie's wife, who desperately tries to sober up her hubby before the arrival of her Uncle Clarence (Charles Ruggles), the head of the local temperance society. McCambridge's own real-life bouts with alcoholism casts an ironic light on this filmed edition of The Red Skelton Show, which appropriately aired on December 31, 1957.
