Synopsis by Hal Erickson

On September 28, 1952, Red Skelton launched his second TV season for NBC. Because of his still-hectic movie and radio schedule, Red decided to film all the episodes for the 1952-53 season, rather than appear "live" as he had done in 1951-52. The routines in "The Skelton Scrapbook of Satire" segment included Red's imitation of different people at the beach, and a not-so-subtle plug for his latest film appearance. Character actor Benny Rubin was among the supporting players. Critics were unimpressed, noting that Red had fallen back into his old habit of breaking up at his own jokes and making snide comments about the gags that didn't work ("Who wrote this?"), but audiences were delighted. The second-season episodes of The Red Skelton Show were filmed in Hollywood by Kay Productions.
