Released during that interim period of declining B-Western fortunes and the emergence of new, more adult-oriented sagebrush tales, The Plunderers adds good writing (by Gerald Geraghty and Gerald Drayson Adams) to the usual Republic Pictures mix of solid stunt work and efficient direction. The latter came courtesy of Joseph Kane, the company's "A-Western" ace, who, as always, keeps the pot boiling merrily. Neither the best nor the worst of its kind, The Plunderers makes for very satisfying Western viewing.
