Synopsis by Nathan Southern
The Kristillnacht, or Night of Broken Glass, marked one of the most truly horrific and gut-wrenching events of World War II - and a harbinger of the satanic barbarity to come. After they seized power with an iron fist, the Nazis set about terrorizing the Jews with the most repressive laws of discrimination and violent looting; ultimately, they set four hundred synagogues on fire and destroyed seven thousand stores and buildings - leading to the deaths of 700 people and the deportation of 26,000 men. The documentary Night of Broken Glass preserves the memory of these events, with a combination of photographs, documents and rare archival footage.
