In the pilot for this adaptation of the Viper comic, a catastrophe at a temp job leads struggling artist Wendy Watson (Natalie Morales) to accept an apprentice offer from a mysterious, straitlaced crimefighter called the Middleman (Matt Keeslar), who enlists her help with a bizarre case involving organized crime and a federally funded gorilla-research lab.
