Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Released on the same reel as Johnny's Pictures of the Polar Regions, Pathe's The Maskmaker was an exercise in the macabre. Upon finding out that his wife is fatally ill, a maskmaker fashions dozens of likenesses of his wife's face as a remembrance. Later on, a group of drunken merrymakers invade the mask shop and steal all of the wife's facsimiles. Returning from his bedroom, where his wife has just died, the maskmaker is appalled to discover that his precious masks are missing. And when the revellers return wearing the masks, the shock proves too much for the protagonist, who immediately succumbs to heart failure.
