Hardly a sequel to the Tobe Hooper version of the Stephen King short story The Mangler, which wasn't all that good in the first place, The Mangler 2 showcases nothing but teen-horror genre shortcomings: characters that are more irritating than sympathetic (they should all die), a fantasy technological leap of faith that few are going to make (the computer system can reach out with a pair of hedge clippers? Please), and a plodding pace that betrays the filmmakers' lack of compelling material. Is there anything redeemable in this steaming pile of low-budget...footage? In a word, no. With the right amount of prescription painkillers, some of the lines might be funny, but only inadvertently.
