Oliver Twist and Fagin in Middle America? Well, that is exactly what you get with The Little Red Schoolhouse in the persons of Frank Coghlan Jr. and Richard Carle, both of whom tear into their assignments with commendable gusto. Granted, it is slightly stale Charles Dickens that screenwriter Paul Perez dishes out, but the ensemble acting is fine and Charles Lamont's direction top-notch.
