Synopsis by Hal Erickson

An ancient Greek legend comes to life, courtesy of the Gaumont studios. The story opens as Cupid aims his arrows at the handsome Apollo. Instantly, Apollo is smitten by water nymph Daphne, who prefers outdoor sports to romance. Spurning Apollo, Daphne transforms herself into a laurel tree rather than surrender to matrimony. The grieving Apollo must be content with breaking off a branch of the tree as a balm to his broken heart. Filmed entirely out-of-doors, The Legend of Daphne deftly combined drama, romance, comedy, and fantasy.
