Synopsis by Jennifer Lackman
Sara Dosa's documentary The Last Season introduces viewers to a pair of Veterans who meet at a mushroom hunting camp in Central Oregon. A friendship between Roger, a 75 year old former US Special Forces Sniper in Vietnam and Kouy,46, a former platoon leader in Cambodia's Freedom Fighters develops over the course of a picking season. The pickers at the camps are focused on locating rare matsutake mushrooms, which are used in food and for ceremonial purposes in Japan. As the men search the woods, the emotional wounds from battle begin to heal and a new life for the men emerges.
