Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Mistakenly reviewed as a Keystone release, the two-reel Fay Tincher comedy The Lady Drummer was actually produced under the imprimatur of Keystone's distributor, Triangle Films. Tincher plays a travelling saleswoman, punningly christened Carrie Case. In love with fellow salesman Sammy Sample, Carrie refuses to marry him until she herself has made good in her chosen profession. Eventually, Carrie is forced to don male drag and disguise herself as Sammy in order to extricate her sweetheart and herself from a devastating dilemma. As one of the few slapstick comediennes in the business, Fay Tincher briefly enjoyed a popularity commensurate with such lady laughspinners as Mabel Normand and Polly Moran.
