The Killer Must Kill Again is literally half of a good movie. The script starts with a nice, Hitchcockian suspense scenario as Giorgio Mainardi George Hilton blackmails the psychotic Killer Michel Antoine into a murder plot, only to have chance occurrences send their plan awry. Unfortunately, The Killer Must Kill Again begins to meander after an excellent first half-hour because it loses control of its web of plot threads and forces some of its characters to do incredibly dumb things to further the plot. Still, The Killer Must Kill Again isn't a total loss: it recovers in time for a reasonable, tense finale, and the usually less-careful Luigi Cozzi directs the mayhem with an impressive, glossy sense of style. Cozzi's work is also bolstered by a well-chosen cast of familiar Euro-cult faces: Hilton makes an excellent sleazeball, Antoine is a genuinely creepy presence as the killer, and Eduardo Fajardo is amusing as the sly police inspector on Hilton's tail. Ultimately, The Killer Must Kill Again is too erratic for the general horror audience but offers just enough suspense and style to please patient giallo fans.
