In chapter six of The Indians Are Coming, Jack Manning (Tim McCoy) leads the settlers safely into Gold Creek. But trouble is soon brewing. Although Tom Woods (Francis Ford) is dead, felled by an Indian, nasty Rance Carter (Wilbur McGaugh) has no intention of giving up Tom's daughter, Mary (Allene Ray), and claims that Tom owed him money. Jack Manning (Tim McCoy), who knows that the loan was paid back in full, confronts Carter and a furious fight breaks out. Suddenly, a shot is heard and Jack falls to the floor.
