Larry (John Wayne) saves Gloria (Shirley Grey) from the clutches of the "Wrecker's" gang during a fierce gun battle between crooks and cops in Chapter Nine of The Hurrican Express). Larry pretends to be shot in order to commandeer the villains' car and lead them on a wild goose chase in search of the gold stolen from the L&R railroad. Meanwhile, the police arrest Gloria's ex-father Frank (Edmund Breese), who though suspected of being the "Wrecker" has actually been trying to prove his evidence by strongarming L&R executive Edwards (Tully Marshall). As Larry prepares to meet the real "Wrecker" face-to-face, a new plot twist sends the story in an entirely new direction.
