The Hater, directed by Joey Ally, tells the tale of environmental activist Dorothy (Ally), who loses her job after a protest gone wrong and returns to her native Texas. There, she discovers that her Republican childhood bully is running for state office. Knowing only Republicans can win, she goes undercover and runs against him for the nomination. In the process, she finds it difficult to hide her true feelings on the issues and discovers that good and evil are not limited to left vs. right.
