One of only two J. Charles Davis Westerns starring Art Acord to have survived, The Arizona Kid is perhaps not very representative of Acord's erstwhile popularity. The once so handsome former rodeo star had come to the end of the line due to a fondness for drink. Acord's impersonation of an Eastern fop is actually quite funny, although Acord tends to overplay the apparently obligatory fey gestures of a dude cowboy. Stuntman Cliff Lyons, as handsome as any cowboy star, makes a good villain and Horace B. Carpenter's direction is fast-paced. The Arizona Kid was edited by Mary Bruening, producer J. Charles Davis' Dutch-born wife, who earlier starred in a couple of oaters under the name Marilyn Mills. According to cameraman Lothrop Worth, the Davis/Acord Westerns were filmed in three days.
