Synopsis by Cecilia Cygnar

This documentary, part of the 20th Century With Mike Wallace series from CBS News and the History Channel, explores some of the most controversial and notorious heists throughout history. Narrated by series host and CBS News correspondent Mike Wallace, this episode surveys heists from the early days of bank and train robberies to more modern-day crimes. There is a study of the famous "Brinks heist," where robbers got away with 2.7 million dollars in just 17 minutes. The case of D.B. Cooper, who jumped out of a plane with 200,000 dollars, is also examined. Interviews with historians and criminal experts go in detail about how some of these crimes were planned with precision. This episode also discusses how some of these criminals became legends, such as Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow (also known as Bonnie and Clyde) and Jesse James.
