Synopsis by Cecilia Cygnar
This documentary, part of the 20th Century With Mike Wallace series from CBS News and the History Channel, explores the world of sexuality in America. Narrated by series host and CBS News correspondent Mike Wallace, this episode looks at the history of sex in America, but focuses on later decades, including the "free love" era of the 1960s. This generation's message was that sex was an expression of freedom, without any boundaries. With the 1980s and the outbreak of the HIV virus and AIDS, the boundaries quickly returned. 20th Century With Mike Wallace features interviews with experts, including historians, sociologists, and psychologists, who talk about the changes in our mentality toward sexuality throughout the 20th century. New York Times columnist and author Anna Quindlen also shares her perspectives on sex and how it has evolved in the past years.
