Synopsis by Cecilia Cygnar

This documentary, part of the 20th Century With Mike Wallace series from CBS News and the History Channel, examines the types and possible uses of biochemicals as weapons. Narrated by series host and CBS News correspondent Mike Wallace, this episode heads back to the days of WWI, when biological and chemical weapons were first created. Since then, there have been many close calls and even some actual attacks through the use of biochemicals, including the Japan subway attack in 1995. 20th Century With Mike Wallace features an interview with Leonard A. Cole, author of The Eleventh Plague: The Politics of Biological and Chemical Warfare, who discusses his opinions on the future of this form of deadly weapon. There is also a look at some of the countries that have biological and/or chemical weapons at their disposal and what America is doing to safeguard its citizens from these dangers.
