Synopsis by Cammila Collar
This documentary takes a look at the unique and often tragic challenges faced by people in the lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgendered community as they grow older. Often denied health and retirement benefits after the death of a partner and sometimes refused comfort and care by their families, LGBT elders are frequently forced to endure lives of solitude, or even to fake heterosexuality to escape a bleak fate. Through interviews with members of the LGBT community as well as doctors, lawyers, and metal health experts, the film examines how the gay community has come to care for its own elders in place of society's traditional safety net.
