Synopsis by Janiss Garza

This crime drama was one of the last starring films of Hobart Henley before he switched over to directing. He is gangster Jim Crosby who has just gotten out of prison. He finds his way to a settlement house run by a society girl, Ann Payton (Sydell Dowling). He is grateful for her care and becomes a leader in settlement work. Ann's weak-willed fiancé, Temple Vaughn (Sydney Bracey), gets entangled with a crooked gambler, Phil Johnson (Joseph Cranby), and his moll (Clara Beyers). Crosby gets him out of the mess he created, but gets sent back to prison himself. Not long after, Johnson winds up in prison too and swears vengeance on Vaughn when he gets out. The men are released on the same day, and Crosby tries to reach Vaughn in time to warn him. But Johnson still manages to shoot Vaughn dead. Crosby and Ann return to the slums and continue their good work.
