Synopsis by Mark Deming

A man who wants to live an honest life finds himself lured back into crime in this drama from the Czech Republic. Tono (Attila Mokos) has returned home after spending several years in prison and wants nothing more than to start his life over and live on the right side of the law. But it isn't long before Tono realizes that's much easier said than done. While Tono was gone, his close friend Stefan (Roman Luknar) offered to help look after his wife Maria (Helena Krajclova) and their young son, but now Tono realizes his friend has taken his place in the household, Maria is no longer interested in him and his son doesn't even recognize him. Tono's efforts to get a job prove futile when he learns employers aren't interested in ex-cons, and as he struggles to earn a living now that he's on his own, Stefan makes an illegal business proposition, and as desperate as he is, Tono doesn't want to risk going back to jail. Pokoj v Dusi (aka Soul At Peace) was the first feature film from veteran television director Vladimir Balko.
