Synopsis by Mark Deming
Everyone's favorite video game insectivore saves Christmas in this made-for-TV animated adventure. The Christmas season is just around the corner when the world gets some startling news -- Santa Claus has been pressured to step down as the planet's leading gift giver, and the evil Dr. Robotnik (Long John Baldry) will be taking over his responsibilities. However, Robotnik's plan will be a little bit different -- instead of giving toys to the good children, he'll be taking stuff from everyone. But Robotnik's plan doesn't stand a chance once Sonic the Hedgehog (voice of Jaleel White) steps in to save the day. Originally created as part of the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog television series, Sonic Christmas Blast first aired in 1996, two years after the last original episode of the series was shown.
