Synopsis by Hal Erickson
Argentine director Carlos Schlieper's first feature-length effort was the offbeat romantic comedy Si Yo Fuera Rice (If I Were Rich). In love with a sneak thief, heroine Amanda Ledesma becomes his willing accomplice. To evade the authorities, Ledesma hides out at a posh mountain resort, posing as a fashion model. Thanks to a series of plot complications that make more sense on screen than in print, a clothing-store sales manager (Severo Fernandez) is forced to pretend to be Ledesma's husband. Love blooms, but it looks for a while like there's an unhappy ending in store when our heroine's criminal boyfriend makes a surprise reappearance.
