What with Mexican-accented Duncan Renaldo, enfant terrible Twinkle Watts and ventriloquist Max Terhune -- not to mention the latter's dummy Elmer -- poor Allan Lane is almost overburdened with sidekicks in Sheriff of Sundown, comic and otherwise. Happily, the oater also features such less than angelic examples of humankind as Roy Barcoft, Kenne Duncan and Bud Geary and a certain balance is reached. Off-screen, the roles were reportedly reversed and child actress Twinkle Watts remembered Allan Lane as someone with "very little sense of humor." Several of Lane's other co-stars, including Robert Blake and Roy Barcoft, were far less diplomatic.
