Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Senhime (The Princess Sen) is set in 17th-century Japan. The title character, played by Machiko Kyo, is the granddaughter of a prominent politician. Forced into a marriage of convenience with a powerful Shogun leader, Senhime falls into alcoholic disgrace after the death of her husband. In the depths of her doldrums, she is confronted by a Ronin (Kenji Suguhara) who had sworn eternal devotion to Senhime's late husband. Vowing to kill Senhime because he holds her responsible for his master's death, the Ronin falls in love with her instead, a move that ends in unhappiness for them both.
