Synopsis by Hal Erickson

Two directors were responsible for this 45-minute Soviet documentary. Russia on Parade was designed to show off the new Sovcolor process, which though far from accurate was at least easy on the eyes. Most of the film is devoted to an annual sports pageant, held in Moscow's Red Square. Amidst dozens of shots of parades, swirling flags and grinning athletes, the filmmakers have included significant close-ups of Premier Josef Stalin and visiting American dignitary General Dwight D. Eisenhower. Suffice to say that Russia on Parade was not included in Eisenhower's publicity packet during his 1952 Presidential campaign.
