Review by Hans J. Wollstein

You know you're in for a bumpy ride when the leading man is dressed to match old stock footage. And that is exactly the case here with Hoot Gibson, too old by 1935 to actually participate in a rodeo, the sport that made him famous 20-some years earlier. Happily, what follows is a rather pleasantly innocuous comedy of the kind that Gibson had done many times before. And if he appears slightly old for this kind of horseplay, Gibson's Howdy Doody-like charms smooth some of the rough edges. Norman Spencer directs with some flair (it is odd that this should be his only such assignment) and added comedy relief is provided by a couple of low-brow vaudeville performers (Charlie Hill, Jerry Mandy) let loose in a ranch kitchen and a burly, lantern-jawed villain (Warner Richmond) who manicures his nails.
