The no longer youthful Buster Crabbe -- once the screen's second most popular Tarzan and, more importantly, Flash Gordon and Buck Rogers -- attempted to re-establish himself with this shoddy Columbia serial about a modern-day "Flying Dutchman" ghost ship. There's an escaped convict (Tristram Coffin), a pretty girl (Lois Hall) to deal with (not to mention Three Stooges alumnus Symona Boniface as "The Lotus Lady"), and Crabbe is further hindered by an overabundance of stock footage. Still trading on his former good name, Crabbe also did King of the Congo (1952) before retiring to become director of water sports at a resort hotel in Scottsdale, Arizona.
