Synopsis by Mark Deming

A man is forced to choose between love and loyalty -- or is he? -- in this thriller from writer and director Valdas Navasaitis. Ron (Dainius Gavenonis) and Adi (Ramunas Cicenas) are two men edging into middle age who been close friends since childhood. Ron is divorced, has a son he rarely gets to see and hasn't been able to get a real career off the ground; Ali owns a bar, and he tries to help Ron by having him do odd jobs for him. One night at the bar, Ron meets an attractive and mysterious woman named Dina (Julija Goyd) who wastes no time letting him know she's attracted to him. Ron thinks life is finally beginning to change for the better until he gets in a drunken brawl at the bar and Adi tells him he's no longer welcome. Before long, Dina is packing their bags and insisting they get out of town; she soon confesses that at the end of the night, she stole Ali take for the evening from the cash register. Ron is now on the run from his oldest friend, until he begins to suspect there are ties between Dina and Adi he doesn't know about. Perpetuum Mobile was an official selection at the 2009 Rotterdam International Film Festival.
